Some from our group made the bold decision to get up at about 6:30 and make a three hour drive to Mt. Sinai and St. Catherine's monastery. They got back at about two this afternoon, and still had time at the resort. Gary and my father, however, rode camels to the top of Mt. Sinai and didn't get back until about six.
I was sad to miss Mt. Sinai, but after some thought, I decided to take advantage of our only full day at the resort and miss one site. I have no excuse for missing Mt. Sinai. I guess you will have to read about it somewhere else.
It sure was nice to sleep in until 9. Awoken by the breeze gently blowing in through the open balcony doors. Had a great buffet breakfast. Laid around at the pool. Snorkeled again at the Red Sea. Had my first real massage ever, an Egyptian massage (whatever that means. It was amazing though..). Everything would have been completely refreshing and perfect if it wasn't for all of the scantily clad Europeans and the massive sunburn I now have on my torso. Its pretty bad. It hurts, and I think i am about to cry. Just kidding. But seriously.
Updates: Weston is very sick. He has had sinus issues for most of the trip but its really getting bad. I hope he can make it a few more days. Weston is such a trooper when he gets sick. He doesn't complain at all. It's amazing. He looks like he is about to die, but just sits quietly.
I still feel pretty rotten about being at a place this nice with all these people serving me. It makes it hard to fully enjoy being here. Apparently working at one of these resorts is a prized job in Egypt, so we aren't supposed to feel that bad. But this is all still really sad to me. All of us rich people coming here to be served by such a poor country.
I didn't worry about pictures today. And Im not really journaling much either. Sorry, i'm just getting as much as possible out of my relaxation. And it's pretty..relaxing.
